The 2026 Pumoyong Tso Sheep Herding Festival will be held from February 7th to February 8th. It is a millennium-old visual feast featuring the stunning blue ice of the lake. At an altitude of 5,000 meters, you can witness the breathtaking sight of herdsmen paving paths with cow dung on the deep blue ice, guiding thousands of sheep towards the lake's central island.

In addition to the traditional festival rituals, this year's event will also host the inaugural Blue Ice Gathering, which includes a local intangible cultural heritage costume show, ice lake cycling and more. Advance reservations are required for all participants.
