Package Car Suggestions

The Toyota Coaster is a popular choice for group tours in Tibet. Its passenger capacity and luggage capacity vary based on original factory configurations and customized modifications. These variations are designed to adapt to Tibet’s complex road conditions and long-distance travel needs. Here are the key details and practical recommendations:

I. Passenger Capacity (Compliant & Travel-Optimized)

Model VersionFactory-Approved Seating CapacityTravel-Optimized Capacity for Tibet Group ToursNotes
Luxury Customized Version6–12 seats4–10 passengersPrioritizes comfort, ideal for small groups, families or VIP trips. Can be equipped with aviation seats and rest areas.
Standard Business Version13–19 seats10–16 passengersBalances passenger capacity and comfort, a mainstream choice for group tours in Tibet.
Standard Passenger Version20–23 seats17–20 passengersMaximizes passenger capacity, suitable for large tour groups. Attention should be paid to balancing luggage space.
Reminder: Group tours in Tibet must strictly follow traffic regulations. The actual number of passengers must not exceed the approved capacity stated on the vehicle license. A driver with valid plateau driving qualifications is mandatory.

II. Luggage Capacity (Practical Reference)

  • Standard Luggage Volume: The Toyota Coaster has a standard trunk volume of approximately 500–800L. Combined with space in the aisle, gaps between seats and a legally installed roof rack, the total storage capacity can reach 1000–2000L, suitable for different travel scenarios.
  • Luggage Reference (Based on 1 piece of 24-inch luggage + 1 carry-on backpack per person for regular trips):
    1. 6–12-seat version: Can easily hold 8–12 pieces of 24-inch luggage plus corresponding backpacks. Extra space is available for photography equipment and outdoor gear.
    2. 13–19-seat version: Can accommodate 12–16 pieces of 24-inch luggage plus backpacks. It is recommended to distribute luggage properly to avoid occupying excessive passenger space.
    3. 20–23-seat version: Suitable for 16–20 pieces of 24-inch luggage plus backpacks. If you have a large amount of luggage, consider using an external roof rack or reducing non-essential items.
  • Luggage Tips for Tibet Travel: Due to bumpy road conditions, luggage should be packed securely. Valuable items should be kept with you. Warm clothing is essential for winter travel or high-altitude routes, and compression bags are recommended to reduce luggage volume.

III. Special Reminders for Tibet Group Tours

  1. Tibet’s plateau roads have high requirements for vehicle power and stability. It is recommended to choose the Toyota Coaster equipped with a 4.0L V6 engine for better performance on uphill sections and rough roads.
  2. If your group includes the elderly, children or people sensitive to altitude sickness, prioritize the low-seat-count luxury version to ensure riding comfort and rest space.
  3. Confirm the luggage storage plan with the car rental company in advance. Some customized models may sacrifice trunk space for enhanced interior configurations, so clear communication is necessary.
