Introduction to Passenger Capacity and Luggage Capacity for Tibet Chartered Trips by Buick GL8

The Buick GL8 is a 5-door, 7-seater MPV with a 2+2+3 seating layout. For Tibet chartered trips, here are the recommendations for legal and comfortable passenger and luggage capacity:

Passenger Capacity

  1. Legal Full Capacity: The vehicle is legally registered for 7 passengers (including the driver), leaving 6 seats for passengers only. This arrangement ensures each person has an independent seat and complies with traffic regulations and long-distance travel comfort needs on the plateau.
  2. Recommended Capacity: The optimal number of passengers is 5 to 6. This leaves enough aisle space and room for personal belongings, reducing travel fatigue at high altitudes.
  3. Special Cases: If carrying a large amount of photography equipment, camping gear or oxygen cylinders, it is advisable to limit the number of passengers to 4 to 5. This helps balance the space for both passengers and luggage.

Luggage Capacity (Based on the standard 521L trunk with the third row of seats not folded down)

Tips for Tibet Chartered Trips

  • Road conditions on the plateau are complex. It is recommended to use soft bags or storage bags for luggage. They are easier to stack and secure, preventing sliding during sudden braking.
  • If carrying emergency supplies such as oxygen cylinders and anti-skid chains, place them in the spare space inside the car first. Do not occupy the main space of the trunk.
  • Confirm the vehicle configuration with the service provider before booking a chartered car. The trunk space of some older Buick GL8 models is slightly smaller, so you can communicate your luggage needs in advance.
